De laaste vaart, over het water.  De Nieuwegeinse Uitvaart offers a unique and symbolic farewell experience, transporting loved ones on a historic ship for their final journey over water. Rooted in ancient traditions of burials at sea, this concept honors those with a deep connection to water, creating a serene and reflective experience for all.

The challenge was to create a digital experience that encapsulates the poetic nature of water’s movement while aligning with the client’s existing brand assets. De Nieuwegeinse Uitvaart’s brand is distinct among funeral service providers for its elegance and simplicity. The UX/UI needed to extend this unique brand language, ensuring a serene and user-friendly experience that narrates the story of a peaceful departure over water.

Our UX/UI design solution embraced minimalism to create an emotional and serene atmosphere. The site’s layout and interactions reflect the gentle flow of water, guiding users through the information in an intuitive and engaging way. We utilised dark blues , copper and whites, representing tranquility, water, and purity, while maintaining the corporate brand elements that differentiate De Nieuwegeinse Uitvaart.

The visual style captures the essence of water’s movement through fluid transitions and animations that mimic gentle waves, offering an immersive storytelling experience. The navigation is designed with a minimalistic approach, ensuring it remains intuitive and allows users to easily explore services, pricing, and information about the historical ships. 

Imagery and copy are thoughtfully curated to evoke a sense of calm and reflection, honoring the ritualistic journey that De Nieuwegeinse Uitvaart provides. All design elements are aligned with Bas Polstra’s corporate identity, ensuring the digital experience serves as a seamless extension of the brand’s unique philosophy.
