SOKO District

15 Aug 2023

SOKO District began with a mission to transform the retail landscape by offering authentic brands the space they need to grow. While many brands moved online, the demand for real-world, community-based experiences remained strong.

Our challenge was to design a UX/UI solution that fostered these personal connections while maintaining brand authenticity.

To achieve this, we designed a digital experience that mirrored SOKO District’s physical retail philosophy—flexible, community-driven, and brand-centric. The user interface prioritized a smooth transition between online and offline experiences, emphasizing the importance of local engagement. A key feature allowed brands to dynamically manage their physical presence, adapting store layouts and product displays to keep up with evolving customer interests.

The UX was built around the concept of a “regenerative space,” reflecting the continuous flow of new ideas at the heart of SOKO’s mission. Our approach allowed retailers to seamlessly showcase their unique stories and products, maintaining the integrity of their brand while adapting to the dynamic retail space.

Shoppers could explore their favourite online brands in real life, fostering a deeper sense of connection and belonging. The design also allowed retailers to leverage insights on customer preferences and behaviours to continually refine their offerings.

The UI provided a clear and intuitive dashboard for retailers to manage both their in-store and online experiences, ensuring consistent brand communication across touchpoints.

Launched at Rosebank Mall in July 2021, the SOKO District became a hub for brands and consumers alike, celebrating the balance between digital convenience and authentic in-person interaction.

This approach provided a unique space for growth, allowing brands to expand without losing their essence and creating a vibrant community for shoppers to connect with the local culture.
